NABA NNJ is excited to begin our mentorship program. We are looking for willing professionals to reach back and assist our students with their professional development through their careers. We all know the importance in having mentors and now its your turn to do the same for someone else.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Technical Sessions
Each year the NABA-NNJ chapter holds CPE technical sessions for it’s members at no charge. In addition CPEs are
available for no incremental charge at the regional and national conferences. NNJ chapter offerings typically include an annual Tax Update, an annual Accounting Update in association with the NJSCPA, financial awareness sessions, diversity development sessions and personal development sessions.
Professional Networking Sessions
Throughout the year NABA-NNJ holds professional networking sessions bringing together our members, our corporate partners, and members of other groups such as the Black-MBAs, ALPFA, Black Data Processors and others. These sessions are held in a relaxed social environment to enhance members’ and guests’ success and enjoyment.
Scholarship Program
Each year NABA-NNJ offers scholarship opportunities for students in college, advanced-degree programs and high schools. These scholarships are sponsored by our corporate partners and by our members’ contributions and efforts. NABA-NNJ typically awards more than $10,000 in scholarships each year to local students. Additionally, student members are eligible for scholarship awards at the Eastern Region and National Conferences. Click Here for more information
ACAP is a separate program developed by and operating under the NABA banner. ACAP is a one week residency program for high school students hosted locally at Rutgers University in Newark. There is no charge to students due to the generosity of our corporate partners and member volunteer organizers. This one week program provides a tremendous benefit to local high school students interested in business careers of any type and includes full days of activity at technical sessions, on corporate visits, at personal development sessions and through evening networking and social experiences. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
NABA volunteers annually coordinate with the IRS to provide Income Tax preparation assistance to local community members of need. NABA set’s criteria to assist those with incomes below $50,000 who may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit but are not aware of the credit. NABA’s volunteers hold weekend sessions from February to April at area libraries to support the local communities. NNJ’s volunteers typically prepare several hundred returns at no charge.

NABA-NNJ posts job opportunities to our members by direct e-mail. Postings are contributed by our corporate partners or by our members who hear of available listings at their employers. NABA membership is a premier method to learn of organizations focused on minority individuals.
